Striking large oil paintings by French Artist Alain du Pontavice inspired by his impressions while living in Asia and South America for over 2o years.
Alain du Pontavice's large abstract oil paintings on linen are a mesmerising subtle play of colour, texture and form with influences of his travels in Asia and South America, working in the art textile industry. The 25 paintings in his inaugural London show reveal his response to the extraordinary, sometimes haunting, sites of natural and historical significance and his inner visions.
"Oil painting is for me an extraordinary medium which allows me to connect with the unconscious. It is the physical matter in painting that connects me to this level, which is why the texture and background are of such importance. It gives depth both visually and metaphorically. The colours are the subtle expression of the sentiment, like musical notes".
