The title for the exhibition is taken from the N*E*R*D song ‘Anti Matter’ from their album, Seeing Sounds (2008). By juxtaposing the busy environment of The Cave's antique shop, and the minimalist works which will be shown, we are reinforcing the narrative of ‘ANTI MATTER’, the removal of clutter, returning to life’s most simple forms - that of the minimalist. The artists we will be featuring are predominantly 2D works, with the exception of Jocelyn, who will be creating a projection for the seated area. Minimalism first came to fruition in the late 60s, with the likes of Donald Judd and Richard Serra to name a couple. With heavy influences from the Modernist movement of the early 20th century, Minimalism became the blueprint for architecture, interior design, industrial design, fashion and much, much more.
