Elizabeth Einberg, senior research fellow at the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art and former curator at Tate Britain, explores the stories and paintings of the 11 ladies who galvanised Thomas Coram’s campaign to establish the Foundling Hospital in the 18th century.
