Join narrative projects on 20 June from 6-8pm for a live event at 110 New Cavendish Street to inaugurate the exhibition “away, completely: denigrate” with curator duo Languid Hands (Imani Robinson & Rabz Lansiquot) introducing the artists and ideas behind the project (including audio-visual contributions from Halima Haruna, Ashley Holmes and Ebun Sodipo) in anticipation of the exhibition opening in November 2019.
Languid Hands is an artistic and curatorial collaboration between DJ, filmmaker and programmer Rabz Lansiquot, and writer, facilitator and live art practitioner Imani Robinson, both based in London. Born out of sorryyoufeeluncomfortable (SYFU) collective, Languid Hands takes inspiration from SYFU’s legacy of creating intentional spaces, for deep study, conversation and multi-disciplinary art-making, that foreground a Black and queer subject-position and a Black radical political standpoint.
Curatorially, they are committed to amplifying the voices and practices of emerging Black and queer artists, creating forums for us to present our work in all of its nuance and complexity. Artistically, the duo brings together their relative practices (filmmaking, sound, performance and writing) to produce passionate work that is interdisciplinary, communal and diasporic.
