Codes of Faith - The Exhibition Where Cultures Meet
Laura I. Gallery has the pleasure of inviting you to the most inspirational art exhibition of the year – “Codes Of Faith”, which will take place on the 7th of December from 6.30PM.
Now in its second year, this unique exhibition is unlike any in the UK – powerful, thought provoking and moving, celebrating the vital importance of diversity.
Over thirty professional and amateur artists from a myriad of backgrounds and cultures will be displaying works based around the subject of faith and religion, offering a glimpse into their own spiritual journey. Whether you follow traditional religions, pagan spirituality or even atheism, the aim of this powerful multi-disciplinary exhibition is to to promote peace, harmony and friendship and encourage people to embrace their differences.
Inspired by her time at the British Museum and being surrounded by powerful cultural objects of belief, and what she saw as an urgent need to bring people together following the Brexit vote and the dreadful terrorist attacks in London, Manchester and Paris, the curator, Laura Iosifescu said of the motivation behind Codes of Faith, “The idea of embracing the world in all its splendour, variety and differences is a profound one and we wanted to create an exhibition in which every participant, both artist and audience, would feel included and welcomed. The works of art displayed in Codes of Faith are current, contemporary and challenging, bringing fresh ideas on how belief exists today - one that doesn’t need to divide us, but which can build bridges between people of different faiths through common values and shared experiences.”
Through beautiful, selected artwork this exhibition has something that everyone can relate to and draw comfort and joy from at Christmas. The event will also feature speeches by Cllr. Saima Ashraf and Laura Iosifescu herself, with entertainment throughout the night by singer-songwriter and future star, Justin Coultrup, along with the announcement of the winner of astonishing jewellery made by talented designer, Kavitha.
