Event Details

On May 25 the Freud Museum will open its doors overnight for the first time, to be transformed into a dream sensorium.

Curated by Allegra Shorto, a selection of artists has been invited to join groups of sleepers and shape their experience. Earth, solar and Solfeggio healing frequencies will sew a sensorial sound web, spun by Lee Berwick and Camilla Emson. The artists' all-night sound performances will diffuse through the rooms of the museum, interlacing with a scent installation by Odette Toilette and Emson's biomorphic glass sculptures. These feelings, sounds and smells may be incorporated into the narrative of dreams, alter their content or partially wake listeners, making them aware that they are dreaming. Throughout the night, participants will be invited to record how their dreams unfurl. All documentation will go towards ongoing dream research.

There will be a reception before the sleepover for those who wish simply to wander through, and a panel discussion around dream. The artists will be discussing their work with lucid dream expert Dr Keith Hearne and dreaming guide and death doula Tree Carr. Guests will then be invited to stay overnight and sleep.
