What processes and considerations go into creating the permanent artworks we see around us in public spaces?
Within a context of constantly shifting urban environments, how can such commissions be best approached in a way that is mindful of histories of the location and the desires of existing communities? And what are the practical considerations around developing robust and long-lasting artworks in public spaces? In this open discussion with art consultant Belinda Holden and local authority urban planner Kate Riggs, we will look at the ins and outs of making public-facing artworks that are built to last and working with funders, collaborators, and audiences involved in such projects.
