This January sees the launch of Lazinc, a new flagship contemporary gallery space in the heart of Mayfair. Lazinc is based on a joint partnership with contemporary art specialist, Steve Lazarides, who founded the existing Lazarides business in 2006 alongside eminent art collector and global retail expert, Wissam Al Mana.
Internationally acclaimed street artist JR – winner of the Ted prize 2012 - will open the gallery with a new exhibition entitled ‘Giants: Body of Work’, in addition to a large-scale installation on the exterior of the three-storey townhouse.
JR will present a unique series of studies through a collection of mixed media works, each encompassing preparatory notes, photography and architectural drawings relating to the GIANTS series. This will be a first for the artist’s GIANTS series outside of private studio visits. JR created a series of new 3D outdoor sculptures across Rio de Janeiro, depicting athletes whose identity was blurred behind the “perfect motion” of an instantly recognisable Olympic event: diving, high jump and swimming.
