The first solo show by Rod Kitson. This is a remarkable installation of 190 square-foot canvases replicating Rod's attic studio apartment in south London on the consecutive days that he painted each one. The realistic paintings show his plants, book shelves with books (each title can be read), his rug (each thread can be seen) on his cracked vinyl floor (each detail is represented), his clothes, shoes, paintings on the walls, windows and their views outside, and so on. The exhibition is an opportunity for a collector or gallery to acquire a visually immersive 190-piece installation by an award-winning emerging artist.
Visitors are encouraged to paint a square while there, which will be available for sale and the same price as each of Rod's paintings which may be sold individually if purchasers pass on the opportunity to buy the work as a whole (£120 each piece, the price of a square foot of his studio).
The show runs until July 31, from 11am until before 7pm daily (before 5pm on Sundays and before 3pm on July 22-23. Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, London SE16 7LL is close to Canada Water station. It is in a pop-up gallery, a vacant shop on the first floor at the top of the escalators). Email: machineslondon@gmail.com for further details or to make an appointment.
