Fellow Humans will be British photographer Oli Kellett´s second solo exhibition with HackelBury Fine Art, London. Kellett´s ongoing and evolving Cross Road Blues series is made up of large scale photographs taken at crossroads in cities across North and South America. The series began in 2016 when Kellett was visiting Los Angeles during the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election and the country was at a political crossroads. The series has continued to evolve over the years and as the next US presidential election now looms in November 2020, Kellett´s new work in this series remains as pertinent as ever.
The scale of these photographs captures tangible human expression and allows the viewer to recognise a moment of conscious contemplation in their lives. At times his photographs also depict a majestic urban solitude reminiscent of the great American artist Edward Hopper. With the unprecedented times that we are currently living through Kellett´s work speaks volumes about the collective angst we face.
“I ́m looking for a moment when somebody is psychologically removed from the physical space they are in, alone with their thoughts for a few seconds.” Oli Kellet
