Event Details

Join us to explore the work of Tahnee Lonsdale, whose new paintings are introduced in Tender Loin, an exhibition that foregrounds the artist's approach to painting gender narratives and the often tender and raw power of personal relationships. Organised by Dellasposa Gallery, this exhibition charts the development of Lonsdale's newest direction of semi abstract painting and her vibrant portrayal of contemporary figuration.

Responding to current discussions on feminism while basing her practice on a close examination of relational complexity, Lonsdale creates a unique oeuvre including some of the most powerful paintings of today. In this event, Lonsdale will be joined by guest speakers Bianca Chu, deputy director of S|2 gallery, London, and Kiki Mazzucchelli, an independent curator, editor and writer, working between London and São Paulo. The event will focus on key themes and works in the exhibition, looking at the the dynamics between Lonsdale's paintings and her sources as well as situating her within the wider context of modernist women artists. Following the discussion there will be opportunity for audience questions and contributions.
