Inspired by its 19th Century Parisian namesake, the Salon des Refusés is an annual celebration of artworks misunderstood, overlooked, omitted or sacrificed at the last minute by the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Running concurrently with the preview days of the RA’s centrepiece exhibition, the Salon des Refusés provides a unique platform for artists whose artworks were refused by the RA Selection Committee.
Based on a truly open call with no restrictions on submissions (other than running out of space!) the Salon des Refusés promises a democratic counterbalance to more conventional exhibition models. This year’s Salon des Refusés presents artworks by over a hundred artists.
Ranging from paintings and drawings to ceramics and sculpture, all affordably priced artworks are for sale.
The Salon des Refusés is presented by Happenstance Gallery and Framing.
