Event Details

We always idealise Summer. Since the first day of the year we cross days in the calendar, daydream about the sand and make plans to leave the city, putting all our hopes for happiness on those warm days. Long walks on the beach, bonfires by the ocean, maybe a quick romance.

But June always comes, and it’s sticky, and we are not so tanned, and we end up spending most of our time in the garden of the same pub we go to during the winter. We long for the beach, but when we can’t afford to go there, we have to be contented with an inflatable pool in the backyard and something that vaguely mimics a tropical cocktail.

The sea does not remind me of Summer, the sea reminds me of a music video with handsome teenagers. Chlorine and fake grass remind me of summer. For all of us who had to stay in the city most Summers, Camden Beach was the closest we were to that beer ad dream. I prefer the idea I have of Summer during winter rather than the real Summer, which always has its flies.
