Sun and Moon - Art & Cocktail Masterclass

Join us for a fun evening of art and cocktail making in the Nunnery Café with Bow Arts artist Jessica Jane Charleston. Make your own visual masterpiece and learn how to create some delicious and eye-catching cocktails in our unique ‘Sun and Moon’ themed event.

Surrounded by a selection of vibrant paintings and drawings from her current exhibition in the Nunnery Café, painter and printmaker Jessica Jane Charleston will teach participants how to draw from life, as well as the importance of imagination, and the effect that your hand can have on the mood of a painting. Jessica will guide you through different processes including colour mixing, life drawing, and visualisation techniques, allowing you to create your own artworks based on the juxtaposing themes of ‘Sun and Moon’.

You will also be trained in the art of cocktail making by Nunnery Café bartenders Jay and Lucinda, learning key techniques and enjoying your own cocktails to get those creative juices flowing! You’ll end up with two cocktails – one sun and one moon themed – using delicious locally produced gin and rum from the East London Liquor Company.

Jessica Jane Charleston is a painter, writer, and printmaker who makes handmade books under the name Make Mud Press in her Bow Arts studio. Jessica’s recent works explore the tension between new environments and old emotions. She aims to carry the spontaneity of her sketchbooks through to her painting and printmaking saying ‘It is in the doing, the drawing, that I find what I want to say’.
