The Baths, situated on the East side of Hackney Wick, has been serving the community since 1994. In January 2020, Stour Space laid plans to add a new gallery space at the Baths to celebrate the local artistry.  

On July 23rd, we are excited to invite you to the opening night of The Baths Gallery featuring Sade English's exhibition The Immortal Diaspora. With her solo show, Sade takes us into a journey through painting, garment construction, film, and soundscapes.  

Sade English's multi-disciplinary project frames her journey in 2020 through painting, garment construction, film, and soundscapes. Sade, as a young Black & Andean woman, witnessed the premature death of her mother Marcia Byfield against the backdrop of a race war and a global pandemic; and it’s in moments of such unrest and sudden change, questions concerning identity percolate as we try to reestablish our purpose.  

Of course, social distancing measures will be put in place to keep everyone safe.
