Formed in the United Arab Emirates in 2015, Tse Tse Fly Middle East started life as a monthly sound art club night. Now based in London, Tse Tse Fly Middle East is a registered non-profit experimental arts organisation that kickstarts discussions on human rights and freedom of speech issues via live performances, workshops and interventions.
The next Tse Tse Fly Middle East event in London takes place at TheOthers Stoke Newington on Sunday January 21st 2018. The night will feature a curated screening of short experimental films and NGO videos followed by live experimental music performances from Tonal Liberation Army, Leslie Deere and Seth Ayyaz.
The evening will support five charities/organisations: Womankind Worldwide (workers’ rights), FORWARD UK (FGM, child marriage and obstetric fistula in Africa), Labour Behind the Label (supporting garment workers' rights), Amnesty International (human rights and justice) and Index on Censorship (supporting freedom of expression). Literature from the charities and organisations will be available on the night along with the opportunity to sign up for their various newsletters.
Tickets are £7 in advance (email email@example.com to add your name to the £7 list) or £10 on the door.

7.30PM - 8.30PM - short films screening showcasing the charities and organisations' work plus Tse Tse Fly-curated selection of experimental video from Iris Zaki, Vishal Kumaraswamy, Tse Tse Fly Middle East and more.
8.30PM - 10PM - live performances from Tonal Liberation Army, Leslie Deere and Seth Ayyaz.
Seth Ayyaz - Seth is a London based composer-performer spanning live electronics, free improvisation, noise, electroacoustics and Arabic musics: principally, nay (end-blown flute), ghaita (reed pipe), and hand percussion (darbuka and daf). Seth has performed at arts festivals worldwide, most recently at the Philharmonie Luxembourg.
Leslie Deere - originally from Tennessee, Leslie is a London-based audio/visual artist working with a variety of media. Leslie's work work focuses on representations of the minuscule - of small worlds within the larger realm that we inhabit - and her practise encompasses circuit-bending and live media manipulation.
Tonal Liberation Army - a duo of Ian Faragher (founder of London’s Sonic Imperfections night) and Nigel Bryant (The Untied Knot, RIM ACD), Tonal Liberation Army employ duration, deceleration and microtonal guitar tuning to explore music that lies between the traditional intervals of the equal-tempered scale.
