Event Details

Chelsea College of Art MA Curating and Collections students would like to invite you to our exhibition 'Two Point Zero'.

This exhibition aims to introduce ambitious questions: Can we fit a whole museum into one room? Is physical space an imperative in our experience of ‘art’? Can museums exist only in the digital realm? Digital and mobile technologies are unquestionably providing alternative means to consider museums and galleries. We would like to discuss the notion of intangible museography in the field of contemporary art and what that means for the public, the curator and the institution.

As questions start to arise of whether institutions can survive outside or without their physical space, DiMoDa, which stands for Digital Museum of Digital Art challenges this notion. It is a museum with no place, an institution that it is not based anywhere in the globe. Instead, this virtual museum offers free downloads of full exhibitions, making it possible to showcase a variety of artworks without the necessity of any physical space.

We invite people to experience a DiMoDa Virtual Reality exhibition. We will provide Oculus Rift glasses which will immerse viewers into a surreal museum lobby, where they can walk into four different galleries using a controller. Each gallery hosts the work of a different digital artist, featuring the works of: Rosa Menkman, Miyö Van Stenis, Theo Triantafyllidis and Brenna Murphy. Exhibition curated by: Ying Ying Lin, Jing Wu, Liting Zhang, Yao Zhao, Lourdes Mendez - Castrillon and Philipp Abdullah.
